According to a study published in Nature Human Behavior by Princeton University researchers on "subtle economic signals from a person's attire," well-dressed persons are perceived as more competent since everyone is judged more by their looks. All of the participants in the scientific study were shown photographs of persons dressed in various outfits and asked to judge their competency by looking at them. As a result, it was discovered that people dressed in expensive attire were perceived as having more professional knowledge in some areas.
